Historically, humans have made jewelry from precious and semi-precious stones. It is also believed these stones can be used for medicinal purposes. Emerald, for instance, is used to boost immune system and for recovery from infections, ruby is used as a healing stone [for its healing features] and agate develops creativity and increases courage.
Afghanistan is a country enriched with these minerals and people have been mining from the past [to access these minerals]. The presence of these natural assets have contributed to the development of decorative accessories industry.
These stones are used to make rings, bracelets, necklaces and decorative items. The industry is prevalent in various Afghan provinces and has occupied markets inside and out of the country.
