Escalation of Israeli Attacks in Lebanon and Gaza Raises Global Concerns

In recent days, Israel has ramped up its military operations in both Lebanon and Gaza, triggering widespread international concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis. On Monday, October 7, the Israeli military announced strikes against more than 120 Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, coupled with ground operations in the area. Simultaneously, attacks on Gaza continued as Israeli forces issued new evacuation orders for northern regions of the territory.
The United Nations has expressed grave concern regarding these evacuation directives, which have forced over 400,000 Palestinians to abandon their homes. Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated, “The order for civilian evacuations without safe havens or survival resources creates a humanitarian disaster. As of Monday morning, more than 50,000 people in northern Gaza have been displaced. A ceasefire must be established in Gaza and Lebanon as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, China’s ambassador to the UN urged all parties involved to refrain from provocative actions. Fu Cong emphasized, “There should be no delay in maintaining peace in the Middle East. We call for effective respect for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of all countries, opposing any actions that violate international laws, and condemning all violent attacks against civilians.”
Israeli officials have declared that their fight against Hamas will continue until all hostages are returned home. In stark contrast, Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri asserted that they have no choice but to engage in battle, stating, “We have no option but war; this is a protracted conflict. We are the root cause of resistance against Israeli aggression. After a year of conflict in Gaza, Netanyahu has failed to achieve his goals. The Al-Qassam Brigades maintain their strength and capabilities to inflict significant damage on the enemy.”
The ongoing violence has led to dire consequences, with reports indicating that since the beginning of the current conflict, approximately 42,000 individuals have lost their lives in Gaza alone. Additionally, the Lebanese Ministry of Health has confirmed that over 2,000 people have died due to Israeli assaults within its borders. The world watches closely as the situation continues to unfold, underscoring the urgent need for humanitarian interventions and a lasting peace solution.
