Although doctors and health professionals consider Corona Virus a threatening disease, some people do not pay attention to the threats of this disease and do not take any precautions to protect themselves and their families from this virus.
In this report, we have collected some rumours in the east of the country that caused several families to refuse the injection of corona vaccine.
Kawtara, a resident of the Dor-Baba district of Nangarhar province, is one of the women who reject vaccine injections due to the rumours.
She said that there were rumours in their village and still are, that the corona vaccine causes death. So she fears and refused to inject the corona vaccine.
“People in our village say that anyone who injects vaccine will give birth to one or two children and may not even give birth to a child at all and other countries want to eliminate our generation, and that’s why I didn’t inject the corona vaccine. They still said that the corona vaccine causes other diseases and even causes death.”
A Patient’s Experience
Those who are infected with corona disease said vaccination is the easiest way to prevent corona.
Bakhtzaminah who lives in Jalalabad city is one of these women, calls the rumors about the corona vaccine false and asks people to inject the vaccine. This woman, who was recently injected with the corona vaccine, says that the vaccine is the best way to prevent corona disease.
“When we inject the vaccine, we feel pain for a few days, but then we get better. I used to get a lot of colds, but now I’m much better. I hope everyone gets the vaccine and gets rid of these problems.”
Preventing Rumors
As in Nangarhar, in the remote areas of Kunar province, several families believe that the corona vaccine harms are greater than its benefits and it harms the body. Parwiz Sargand, a resident of Konar said that for preventing negative rumours, awareness should be done in remote areas.
“To eliminate negative rumours, should work on people’s thoughts and give information about the corona vaccine.”
Emphasis on Vaccine Injection
However, doctors continue to mention Corona as a big threat and ask people not to believe the rumours. Referring to these rumours, Dr Sajida Momand says that if people do not get the vaccination, they are playing with their health and lives.
“All people should be vaccinated because the corona disease exists and the rumours are false. If a disease is not prevented, it is difficult to treat and has financial and life harm. The new type of coronavirus is dangerous and has many harms.”
Ministry of Public Health Officials says that Afghanistan is getting better in public awareness and vaccination, and the number of people refusing vaccine injections is decreasing.
Naqibullah Rahimi, the spokesperson of Nangarhar Public Health Directorate, says:
“Due to the carelessness of people, corona cases have slightly increased. We hope that people consider Corona as a serious disease.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Sharaf Zaman, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Health says that 12 million people have been vaccinated in the country, and this percentage shows that Afghanistan has achieved the goal set by the health organization.
“About 12 million people have been vaccinated in Afghanistan, and there are still approximately 380 active vaccination centres across the country.”
It should be mentioned that the corona vaccination campaign has been started in 17 provinces of the country since February (Dalw) this year, and 14.5 million people have been vaccinated yet.s
