The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo participated in the Senate document Appropriations Committee session on the requested budget of the Biden administration and China-US relations in a rare joint appearance.
These three top United States cabinet secretaries warned that budget cuts would seriously undermine Washington’s ability to compete with the Asian power.
According to reports, this meeting was held while both the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States consider the Chinese communist government to be Washington’s biggest competitor.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that although China represents a geopolitical challenge to America, the US is not seeking a conflict or cold war with China.
“China represent the most consequential geopolitical challenge we face today, a country with the intent and increasingly the capability to challenge our vision for a free open secure and prosperous international order.”
At the same time, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, referring to the issue of Taiwan, said that Washington would soon provide “significant” military aid to the island.
“Beijing has increased its bullying and provocations in the Indo-Pacific. It’s embarked on a historic military buildup including space and cyberspace. Of course, war is neither imminent nor inevitable. But we must face up to the PRC’s growing assertiveness. The department’s mission is clear to deter aggression that threatens our vital national interests.”
American Commerce Minister Gina Raimondo has also said that competing with China requires using all American economic, diplomatic and military tools.
According to Reuters, American lawmakers are also investigating possible security threats from China, including Tik Tok.
It should be mentioned that by the flight of China’s spy balloon into the sky the United States, the relations between the two major economic countries of the world have been deeply affected.
