The UN statement stated that Antonio Guterres called on all parties to stop the violence in the current protests that started after the arrest of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The members of the Tehreek-e-Insaf party led by Imran Khan claimed that the police had beaten and tortured the protesters.
Demonstrations turned violent in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing and injuring dozens of people.
Pakistani police have said that more than a thousand people have been arrested in Punjab and hundreds of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
