Suspension of Russia’s last Nuclear Arms Agreement with the US

Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday (22nd February) during his annual speech that the US and its allies in NATO want to strategically defeat Russia and gain access to the country’s nuclear facilities.

Referring to NATO’s efforts for Ukraine’s membership in this organization, Putin said that NATO is responsible for starting the war in this country.

At the same time, the United States called the suspension of the New Start agreement by Russia unfortunate and irresponsible.

It should be noted that the New Start Agreement was signed in 2010 between Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev, the presidents of the United States and Russia at the time, and was implemented in 2011.

According to this agreement, the two countries pledged to reduce the capacity of their nuclear arsenals by 30%.
