This trip takes place while the United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire in Syria to help the victims of the recent earthquake.
This organization sent its aid to the earthquake-affected areas in northwestern Syria on Friday (10th February).
The areas affected by the earthquake in Syria are under the control of the opposition of the Syrian government, and this government has agreed to provide humanitarian aid to those areas under the supervision of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman of the UN Secretary-General, announced in a press conference that the situation in the areas affected by the earthquake is catastrophic.
He added that this earthquake displaced more than five million people in Syria.
Although more than three thousand deaths have been reported as a result of this event in Syria, there is no accurate information about the actual number of casualties.
Also, the casualties caused by this earthquake in Turkey have been announced as more than 20,000.
So far, the number of injured on this day has been reported to be more than 80,000 and it is said that the death toll is increasing.
