The Press Office of Iran’s Judiciary has published a statement saying that this fire happened during the conflict between the prisoners in Evin prison.
It is stated in the announcement that 61 other prisoners were injured as a result of the fire, and four of them are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Josep Burrell; the EU foreign policy official, in response to this incident said that the Iranian authorities are responsible for protecting all prisoners.
According to the Iranian authorities, the four people who died in Evin prison were imprisoned on the charge of robbery.
