The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded the 2022 Goalkeepers Global Goals Award to four women, including Zahra Joya; an Afghan female reporter.

Afghan Female Reporter Won the 2022 Goalkeepers Global Goals Award

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has published a statement saying that: “The award was given to Zahra Joya, during a special ceremony in New York”.

During the ceremony, Zahra said: “Women in Afghanistan are fighting for their most basic rights”.

Meanwhile, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation communications officer Susan Byrnes in a tweet praised Joya’s courage and commitment to informing the public.

It should be noted that this year, this award was given to Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, Radhika Batra, a doctor and health activist in India, and Vanessa Nakate, an environmental activist from Uganda.

World Prominent figures, including former US President Barack Obama and French President Emmanuel Macron, have also won the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s Goalkeepers Award.
