Afghanistan reported 248 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to government data released Monday.

The nationwide tally of infections has reached to 175,000 since the start of the pandemic, as per figures by the country’s health ministry.

The country also reported one related death in the last 24-hour period, taking the overall tally to 7,626 fatalities.

Also, 163,000 patients recuperated from the disease since the start of the outbreak.

With COVID-19 infections on rise, officials ask residents to follow health measures.

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed 6,365,000 people worldwide since it began in December 2019, according to a Reuters’ tally. 

More than 444.3 million people have been infected worldwide, the tally showed.
