The blast in Manogi district of Kunar province injured four people, said Najibullah Hanif, acting head of provincial office of information and culture.
Three children were among those injured, he said.
A source in Asadabad central hospital spoke with TKG on condition of anonymity, saying a dead child and two wounded were taken to hospital.
One of those injured in the blast was in critical health condition and taken to Nangarhar regional hospital, he added.
There was no claim of responsibility.
