Biden and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani plan to discuss Middle East security, ensuring the stability of global energy supplies and the situation in Afghanistan on Jan. 31, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.
The meeting comes as humanitarian conditions have deteriorated in Afghanistan following the takeover of power by the Islamic Emirate.
Biden, she said, will also thank ruler of Qatar for his country’s support to the United States in safe transit of U.S. citizens, permanent residents and Afghan allies out of Afghanistan.
Qatar has played a significant role in pre- and post-August evacuations from the country.
