OIC Urges Afghans to Resolve Differences ‘Peacefully’

The 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) urged “the future Afghan leadership” and the international community to work together to ensure that Afghanistan is never again used as a terrorism safe haven, calling on Afghans to resolve their difference “peacefully.”

The organization on Sunday vowed to help achieve peace in Afghanistan, calling on the future Afghan government to guard the country against once again becoming a safe harbor for terrorists.

“Terrorist organizations are not allowed to have a foothold (in Afghanistan),” said a final communique, issued after the Saudi Arabia-based organization held a special meeting called by Riyadh to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

The statement called on Afghan parties to resolve their differences “peacefully”.

Taliban took over Kabul last week, but a government is yet to be formed.

People call on political leaders to agree to forming a new government.
