Afghan forces had been under Taliban siege since Saturday evening, according to sources from the provincial council, and it fell to Taliban on Sunday morning.
Several Afghan security forces were killed and wounded while several others were captured alive, said head of provincial council, Mohammad Afzal Hadid.
The government failed to provide on-time support and assistance, the source said, and thus, the district was captured by Taliban.
According to him, eight other districts were at risk to fall to insurgents and if government fails to provide assistance they are likely to fall too.
