Herat: Prisoner Set Himself on Fire

The inmate, sentenced to 16 years in jail for abduction and murder, on Friday evening burnt to death himself, said Amrullah Noorzai, director of Herat Central Prison.

The prisoner had survived two other suicide attempts, according to Mr. Noorzai.

The cause of his suicide was said to be personal issues.

Currently, there are nearly 3,000 prisoners held in Herat prison.
