The Afghan government has appointed new acting ministers for key security posts amid rise in insecurity and daily fall of districts to Taliban.

Afghan Gov’t Appoints New Acting Heads for Key Security Ministries
The Presidential Palace, Kabul.

In a statement released Saturday, June 19, the Administrative Office of President announced the appointment of new acting ministers.

According to the statement, at separate decrees, President has appointed Besmillah Mohammadi as acting defense minister and Abdul Satar Mirzakwal as acting minister of interior.

Hayatullah Hayat, former acting interior minister, has been appointed as acting minister of rural rehabilitation and development, the statement read.

Replaced by Hayatullah Hayat, Mujib Rahman Karimi has been hired as President Ghani’s senior advisor on development and infrastructure.

The key appointments come as in just last 24 hours, three districts have fallen to Taliban.
