Kabul Municipality announced Thursday that urban bus services will be suspended in bids to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kabul Municipality Suspends Urban Bus Services as COVID-19 Cases Surge

The bus services that are active in AhmadShah Baba Meena and Kart-e Naw areas will be suspended in attempts to contain the spread of COVID-19, a statement by Kabul Municipality read.

The decision will take effect on Saturday, June 19.

The Municipality also urged other public transport services to reduce in ridership.

Afghanistan is battling a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Afghan authorities calling on people to assist the government in fight against the deadly disease.
