Afghan forces late on Wednesday foiled a car bomb attack in Dawlat Abad district of Balkh province after they identified the suicide attacker, said Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.
The bomber was set to target police chief headquarters of Dawlat Abad district, he said, but the attempt was failed and the car was eliminated.
According to the spokesman, the incident caused damages to residents and nearby houses.
Taliban officials have yet to comment.
It comes as violence has surged in Afghanistan as foreign troop withdrawal continues.
