Nader Shah Amiri, head of the badminton federation of Afghanistan’s western Herat province was killed last night after unknown men opened fire at him, said provincial police.
According to police spokesman, Abdul Ahad Walizadah, the motive of the murder was not clear.
Police investigations to hunt down the perpetrators were underway, he added.
Targeted attacks, often unclaimed, have seen a rapid increase in Afghanistan. The attacks have prompted people’s outcry who accuse government of failing to protect its citizens.
