Taliban Kills 10 Mine-Clearing Workers in Baghlan: Interior Ministry

Taliban last killed a dozen mine-clearing workers after they entered their camp in country’s northern Baghlan province, officials in Afghan ministry of interior say.

Taliban Kills 10 Mine-Clearing Workers in Baghlan: Interior Ministry

Armed Taliban last night around 10:00 local time stormed camp of the mine-clearing workers in Sheikh Jalal area of Baghlan-e Markazi (Central Baghlan) district of the province, said interior ministry’s spokesman Tariq Arian.

According to him, 10 deminers were killed and 14 others wounded as fighters opened fire at them.

“The Taliban continue to commit crimes,” he added.

Jawed Besharat, spokesman for the provincial police chief, also confirmed the incident, adding the Taliban took nearly a hundred of workers in a room and then opened fire at them. 

The wounded people were taken to provincial hospital in Pul-e Khumri city, provincial capital of Baghlan, he added. 

The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
