Chief negotiators and some members of the negotiation teams from both, the Afghan government and the Taliban, met on Tuesday evening, agreeing on stepping up peace talks and items of agenda, officials from both sides confirmed in similar statements.
“A meeting was held yesterday evening between the heads of the both Intra-Afghan negotiation teams and a number of its members,” said the Afghan negotiation team.
“At this meeting, an agreement was reached on speeding up the negotiation process and its agenda issues.”
It comes following weeks of stalemate in talks between the two sides.
At the same time, Afghan fighting has sharply increased as foreign forces have begun leaving the country.
