Armed Taliban last night stormed security outposts in Band-e Sharam area, killing Besmillah Daizangi, commander of local army with his two soldiers, said provincial governor Hisamuddin Shams.
According to the governor, more than six members of the Taliban were killed and over a dozen wounded in exchange of fire between government forces and the armed group.
Other sources have put the toll of casualties inflicted to local army to four dead.
The Taliban officials claim the fighters have killed the commander, his deputy and two of his guards.
Badghis province is located in the isolated hills of northwestern Afghanistan with a deteriorated security situation.
The Taliban fighters have ramped up violence in Afghan provinces.
