In a message Rahmatullah Andar, spokesman for the office of national security council, said that Taliban have ramped up their attacks since foreign troops have begun the pullout and have carried out 1,455 attacks during this period.
He added that the armed group has suffered heavy casualties as Afghan forces pushed back their attacks.
Government forces have succeeded to foil 63 bomb attacks planned by the Taliban, Mr. Andar said.
According to the ONSC spokesman, Taliban have ramped up their attacks instead of advancing the intra-Afghan talks which are part of a peace pact the group signed with the United States on late February last year.
The spokesman blamed Taliban for civilian casualties, saying as many as 63 civilians have been killed and 126 others wounded in just the past one week.
These civilians have been killed in Taliban offensives and roadside bombings in 27 provinces of the country. Women and children were also among the victims, he added.
As part of the peace deal the Taliban negotiated with the United States on February 29, all international troops are to leave Afghanistan.
The pullout process began on early May following the announcement of the U.S. President Joe Biden’s withdrawal plan and will be completed by September 11 which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.
