COVID-19: Afghanistan Reports 977 New Infections

Health ministry in Afghanistan on Friday (May 28) reported 977 new COVID-19 infections and three related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to Afghan health ministry, 18 more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,899.

Also, as many as 977 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 70,107.

Some 57,119 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.

A third wave of the coronavirus has entered the country with health authorities calling on people to follow health measures in bids to contain the spread of the virus.
