Taliban targeted the police headquarters of Qaisar district on Wednesday, but the mortar shells hit district’s market and residential houses, Hanif Rezaiee, spokesman for the army in north of country said.
He put the toll of casualties to seven killed and nine others wounded—all civilians.
The spokesman added that the attack also caused material damages.
Earlier the provincial police chief said four people were killed and eight others, including four civilians and two military personnel, injured in the attack.
There was no comment from the Taliban yet.
