Saifurrahman Safi, head of Sayed Khel district’s council of Ulema (religious clerics) came under unknown men’s attack in Jabal Siraj district on Saturday morning around 8:00 local time, said Sayed Khel’s district governor Ahmad Omar Osmanyar.
Safi’s son was injured in the attack, according to the district governor.
Saleem Noori, spokesman for Parwan’s police chief, also confirmed the attack, saying he was killed when he was on way to school and armed men opened fired at him.
According to the spokesman, Safi was also a schoolmaster in Saifurrahman Shaheed in the district.
Perpetrators managed to escape, the spokesman said, adding efforts were underway to hunt them down.
There was no claim of responsibility.
