In a statement released Sunday, the Ministry of Defense said that Afghan forces backed by air forces yesterday afternoon targeted Taliban bases in Baghlan-e Markazi (Central Baghlan) district of the province.
As many as 12 Taliban fighters were killed and eight others wounded in the Afghan raids.
The statement added a Taliban base, one vehicle and a number of weapons were destroyed.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
A resumption of the fights between government forces and the Taliban comes as a three-day Eid ceasefire declared by warring parties ended on late Saturday.
Helmans, Kunduz, Kandahar, Kabul and several other provinces witnessed deadly attacks and bombings during the Eid ceasefire, with Afghan government and the Taliban blaming each other for breaking the ceasefire.
