Abdul Manan Saeedi, director of economy in Logar province, Afghan central province, was killed Sunday morning around 10:30 local time in an armed attack when he was on Logar-Kabul route, said provincial police spokesman Gul Haidar Ahmadi.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Afghanistan already torn by decades-long war is experiencing a nationwide spike in bombings and targeted killings.
These attacks, often without claim of responsibility, inflicts casualties mostly to civilians.
