An explosion took place Saturday around 4:27 local time near Sayed ul-Shuhada school in Dasht-e Barchi area, west of Kabul city, said Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.
The initial reports indicated a toll of casualties was 25 killed and 52 wounded—all civilians.
According to the spokesman of the Interior Ministry, the toll rose to more than 30 killed and more than 52 wounded and it was expected to rise.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The Taliban has condemned the deadly attack, blaming the Afghan intelligence to be responsible.
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across country.
