Over Dozen Killed in Herat Flash Floods

Local governance in Afghanistan’s western Herat province says as many as 12 people have been killed in flash floods in Adraskan district of the province.

In a statement the government authority said heavy spring rains in recent days caused damages to residents of Herat after it triggered flash floods in several districts.

In Adraskan, a district in central part of Herat province, twelve people, including a woman and four children, died.

Providing assistance and distributing aid to affected people were underway, according to the statement.

The flash floods caused damages to farmlands and the livestock.

According to the statement, more than 300 sheep and cows died after being swept away in flash floods.
