Afghan forces backed by the Air Force carried out raids on Taliban positions in Pashtun Zarghun district of Herat province, read a statement by Afghan army in the west.
According to the statement, at least nine insurgents have been killed and 13 others wounded.
A number of the insurgents’ weapons have also been demolished.
There was no reports of casualties to Afghan forces.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
