The meeting was held in Istanbul, with Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar joining it via video-conference.
In a joint statement released following the conference on Friday, foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Turkey and Pakistan called on the Taliban to reaffirm its commitment to “achieving an inclusive negotiated settlement for ensuring lasting peace in the war-torn country.
Afghanistan’s Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, and their Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated their commitment to support a peaceful, sovereign, independent, democratic and united Afghanistan.

Officials in the Afghan government have said the Istanbul summit was not happening on the set date because the Taliban had refused to participate.
The meeting “recalled that the Istanbul Conference had been postponed after extensive discussions with all relevant parties with a view to holding the Conference when conditions for making meaningful progress would be more favorable,” the joint statement read.
