5 Killed in Afghan Capital as Targeted Killings Mount

Afghan security officials in the capital, Kabul, announce as many as five people including military personnel and a civilian have been killed Saturday morning in two separate attacks, amid a spike in targeted killings across the war-torn country.

5 Killed in Afghan Capital as Targeted Killings Mount

Ferdaws Faramarz, spokesman for the Kabul police chief, said unknown armed men on Saturday morning opened fire and killed at least four security personnel and a civilian in Afghanistan’s capital.

The incidents took place separately in the fourth district and Paghman district of the capital. 

Mr. Faramarz said an investigation was ongoing.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Afghanistan is experiencing a nationwide spike in bombings and targeted killings.
