Afghan security forces on Monday night carried out an operation in the third district of Taloqan city, the provincial capital of Takhar, to arrest a suspect accused of murder, said police spokesman Khalil Aseer.
The suspect who had hidden himself inside a store opened fire, wounding Ibrahim Doorandish, the police’s security chief.
He was rushed to hospital but died of injuries.
According to the spokesman, police shot and killed the suspect.
A woman accused of cooperating with the suspect was arrested and was under questioning.
