Afghan President, U.S. Blinken Discuss Peace ahead of Turkey Summit

President Ghani on Tuesday posted on Twitter he spoke with U.S. top diplomat Blinken on the Afghan peace process.

The U.S.-backed peace conference set to take place on April 16 in Istanbul, Turkey.

“Today, I spoke with Secretary @ABlinken. We discussed the ongoing peace process, the upcoming peace talks in Turkey,” he took to Twitter.

President Ghani also discussed his upcoming call with U.S. President Joe Biden.

“…and also spoke about the upcoming phone call with President @JoeBiden,” he said.

It comes as the U.S.-sponsored peace summit is scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, with the Taliban backing out of participation in the summit on Afghanistan likely to take place in comings days.

Mohammad Naeem, spokesman for the Taliban political office in Qatar, said the group was still deliberating in this regard.
