Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Haneef Atmar on Sunday met with Turkish Ambassador to Kabul Oguzhan Ertugrul to discuss the upcoming Turkey-hosted peace conference on Afghanistan.

In a statement released Sunday, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar met with Oguzhan Ertugrul, Turkey’s Ambassador to Kabul and discussed the date, agenda, negotiation teams, the participants as well as the expecting outcomes of the upcoming Turkey-hosted peace conference on Afghanistan.

It comes as Ghani’s government has established a committee under Mohammad Younus Qanoni’s leadership to present a government’s unified proposal at the conference.

As many as 15 people, including President Ghani’s National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib, Foreign Minister Haneef Atmar and government’s top peace negotiator Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai.

Afghan High Council for National Reconciliation held a meeting Sunday to deliberate on the proposed peace plan to be shared later in the peace conference on Afghanistan which will be hosted by Turkey this month.

Faraidoon Khwazoon, spokesman for the council, said the leadership committee members will unify Republic’s plans and then will present to the Istanbul summit.

According to reports, the peace conference, hosted by Turkey, will be held on April 16 with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani putting forward a three-phase peace roadmap for Afghanistan during the meeting in Turkey.
