Afghanistan human rights commission has urged the conflict parties in Afghanistan to step up efforts for ceasefire and peace in the country torn by long decades war and violence.

In its report released on Twitter on Thursday, the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said that as many as 20 civilians had been killed and another 11 wounded within 18 to 23 of March, 2021 in sticky and roadside bombings as well as armed attacks.

Four women and four children were among the dead, according to the report, while one woman and a child were among the wounded in the attacks claiming civilians.

According to the report, unknown armed men were responsible for 20, the Taliban were responsible for seven, and government forces for four civilian casualties during this period.

The conflict which keeps harming civilians in high numbers must stop, it said.

The commission also urged warring parties to respect the international humanitarian law and ramp up “efforts for ceasefire and peace.” 

Officials from the Afghan government and the Taliban have yet to comment.
