Afghan security and defense forces launched operations against Taliban insurgents in Lab-e Nahr area of Chamtal district in northern Balkh province.
Bilal, the Taliban shadow deputy governor for Chaharbolak district, and four other militants have been killed in the Afghan forces raid, it said.
Another six Taliban fighters have been wounded in the attack.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
