Unidentified armed men abducted the children from their boarding school in Jangebe, Zamfara state, last week and taken to a forest, police said.
The state’s governor said on Tuesday the girls had been freed and were safe.
Such kidnappings are carried out for ransom and are common in the north. However, no ransom had been paid for their release, according to media reports.
The state governor, Dr. Bello Matawalle, said the students were being taken to a health facility for medical examination.
