In a statement released Friday, the Presidential Palace said that Prime Minister of the United Kingdom reiterated his country’s longstanding support for the Afghan peace process, boosting regional diplomacy for the ongoing peace efforts as well as support of the Afghan security and defense forces.
Both expressed concern over the high levels of violence in the country, reiterating needs for permanent ceasefire.

The second round of the peace negotiations which began early January this year had become stalled for more than a month, with the Taliban political officials heading over countries in the region.
