Armed Taliban on Tuesday evening around 6:00pm local time pulled Narmgo out of his car and killed him, said provincial police spokesman Ahmad Jawed Besharat.
Narmgo was killed near Street 5 of provincial sugar factory as he left Central Baghlan district for his home, the spokesman said.
The Afghan press freedom organization, NAI or Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan, in a statement released Tuesday night said Narmgo’s death has widened scale of serial killers in the country.
The organization called for hunting down the perpetrators and holding them to account. It warned of an extensive damage to freedom of expression if government fails to prevent targeted assassinations.
According to the data published by the organization, as many as eight journalists have been killed in Afghanistan in the past few months.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
