In a statement released Wednesday, the Ministry of Defense said Afghan security and defense forces with support of air forces carried out operations in several parts of the province.
According to the statement, the Afghan raids were carried out Tuesday in Mianshen, Arghandab and Panjwai districts of Kandahar province.
At least 42 Taliban fighters were killed and seven others wounded, read the statement.
A number of weapons were also demolished during the operation.
The Taliban group has not commented yet.
