Negotiators representing the Afghan government on Monday met with the Taliban negotiation team in the Qatari capital of Doha and resumed peace talks after a four-week break, officials from both sides confirmed.
“Chief negotiators and several members of both negotiating teams met in a positive atmosphere this evening,” said similar statements.
During the meeting, working groups of the negotiation teams were tasked to continue their meetings on the agenda.
According to the statements from both sides, it was also emphasized in the meeting to continue negotiations.
Ghulam Farooq Majroh, member of the Afghan government negotiation team, said the contact groups are set to discuss details of the agenda.
Peace talks will continue normally hereafter, he added.
The second round of the peace negotiations which began early January this year had become stalled for more than a month, with the Taliban political officials heading over countries in the region.
