Unknown armed men opened fire at a car near a school in the fourth district of Jalalabad city, said provincial police spokesman Farid Khan.
At least three people were killed in the attack, he said, without elaborating who the victims were.
The perpetrators managed to flee the scene.
Similarly, gunmen shot at a police vehicle in the second district of the city, according to the spokesman.
One policeman was killed and another two wounded in the attack.
No individual or armed group claimed responsibility.
