Roadside Bomb Kills 7 in Northern Afghanistan

At least seven security forces were killed after their vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a roadside bomb in northern Afghan province of Faryab.

A military convoy was travelling from Maimana city to Almar district of Faryab province Monday afternoon around 3:00, said provincial police spokesman Karim Yourish.

A Humvee was struck by a roadside bomb placed by Taliban in a market in Almar district of Faryab, he added.

Following the explosion, an hour-long clashes erupted between government forces and Taliban, according to the spokesman, who added more than a dozen Taliban insurgents were also killed or wounded.

The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
