A Humvee belonging to Afghan security forces was struck by a roadside bomb in the district Monday evening, said provincial police spokesman Abdul Ahad Walizada.
The explosion killed at least three security personnel, including official in charge of police counter-terrorism in Keshk Kuhna district, he added.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
On Monday afternoon, a sticky bomb detonated near the third security district of Herat city, leaving no one hurt.
