Afghan special forces of commando have carried out operation against Taliban in Nawa district of southern Helmand province, said the ministry in a statement.
As many as 23 militants have been killed or wounded in the operation.
At least 18 keg bombs were found and a number of weapons were seized from the insurgents.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
