Haji Mohammad Nabi, Abdul Rauf’s father spoke to TKG, saying the government has not shared the results of its actions taken.

The Taliban group, however, has captured more than a dozen suspects in relation to the abduction, he said.

A number of protesters meanwhile urged authorities to ensure justice and hold perpetrators to account.

Abdul Samad Hares, head of Turkmen Islamic Solidarity Council, said protesters gave a 72-hours deadline to government to rescue the child, otherwise, they will block access routes to important ports in north and northeast.

Local government in Balkh province, however, said shutting roads and highways are considered illegal and no one will be allowed to do so.

Balkh governor Mohammad Farhad Azimi said efforts were under to set the child free. He added that over 20 people have been arrested in relation to the matter.

Rauf’s family complained that government has failed to fulfill its pledges to release the child, saying the government has no clue yet and releases the arrested people back onto streets.
