A Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem Wardak said the visit of the delegation led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, one of the group’s cofounders and its political deputy, came upon an official invitation from Turkmenistan.
The delegation will meet neighboring country’s senior officials, according to the spokesman, who added commercial ties, political progresses and related issues will be the meeting deliberations.
It follows the Taliban’s visit to Iran where the delegation met with the country’s high-level officials.
It also comes as the talks between Taliban and Afghan government negotiation teams have become stalled.
