Mohammad Omar Omar, head of Kandahar’s Department of Hajj and Religious Affairs, said unknown armed men shot and killed a cleric named Abdul Baqi Wednesday morning in Kandahar city.
He was killed near his house in the ninth security district of the city, according to Mr. Omar.
Abdul Baqi was the second religious cleric who was killed in Kandahar’s provincial capital.
There was no claim of responsibility for his death.
